Jeffrey Nepple, MD

Dr. Jeffrey J. Nepple is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and nationally recognized sports medicine and hip preservation specialist at Washington University Orthopedics in St. Louis. He is Co-Director of the Washington University Hip Preservation Service. He is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine and specializes in the treatment of hip disorders in adolescents and young adults, including femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), hip dysplasia, labral tears, and complex hip preservation surgery. Dr. Nepple is widely respected for his clinical expertise and research focused on improving outcomes for patients with pre-arthritic hip conditions and has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and presentations. He is a key member of the ANCHOR Study Group and serves on its executive committee. He is an active leader in national orthopedic organizations and has received numerous research and teaching awards for his contributions to sports medicine and hip preservation. He was co-author on the AAOS Kappa Delta Award in 2024, the highest honor for orthopedic research. He received a large multicenter research grant award from the American Orthopedic Surgery for Sports Medicine to support the ORBIT (Outcomes Research in Borderline to Improve Treatment) as the principal investigator on this ANCHOR study. Dr. Nepple received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine. He did a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery, at Washington University School of Medicine, then went on to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Steadman Clinic/Steadman-Philippon Research Institute as well as a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics at Washington University School of Medicine.
