Eduardo Novais, MD, is Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and Chair of the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Nemours Children’s Health in Jacksonville, Florida. He is an internationally recognized pediatric orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip preservation and complex hip preservation surgery in adolescents and young adults. Dr. Novais has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications on pediatric and young adult hip disorders, hip preservation surgery, developmental dysplasia of the hip, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, and Perthes disease. He is also co-editor of the textbook Hip Preservation Surgery in Children and Adolescents. At Nemours Children’s Health in Jacksonville, Dr. Novais evaluates and treats pediatric and adolescent patients up to 18 years of age. He is also affiliated with and serves as Co-Director of the Hip Preservation Program at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, where he provides specialized care for patients older than 18 years. His combined clinical practice offers continuity of care across the pediatric, adolescent, and young-adult spectrum, with an emphasis on preserving the native hip, restoring function, and preventing premature degenerative joint disease.
