Stephanie Pun, MD, FAAOS

Dr. Stephanie Pun is Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford School of Medicine and an internationally recognized specialist in hip preservation surgery. She specializes in both open and arthroscopic treatment of complex hip disorders for adolescents and young adults, focusing on hip dysplasia, femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), and sequelae of childhood hip diseases.

After earning her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and medical degree from UCSF School of Medicine, she completed orthopaedic surgery residency at Stanford University and fellowship training in adolescent & young adult hip preservation surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She then completed the Stanford Biodesign Faculty Fellowship, developing her interests in the application of novel medical technologies within hip preservation surgery. 

An active contributor to the advancement of hip preservation, Dr. Pun has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters. She regularly presents her clinical research and serves as faculty at national and international orthopaedic symposiums. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Hip Preservation Society (ISHA), and Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA). Dr. Pun serves as a site director for several major multi-center research initiatives, including the Academic Network of Conservational Hip Outcomes Research (ANCHOR), the Global Hip Dysplasia Registry (GHDR), and the Slipped Longitudinal International Prospective Registry (SCFE/SLIP).
