John Clohisy, MD

Dr. John C. Clohisy is a St. Louis-based orthopedic surgeon and clinician-scientist at Washington University School of Medicine. He serves as the Daniel C. and Betty B. Viehmann Distinguished Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Chief of the Hip and Knee Reconstruction Service, and Co-Director of the Hip Preservation Service. Dr. Clohisy is one of the founding members of the ANCHOR study group. Dr. Clohisy specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of complex hip disorders, including hip dysplasia, femoroacetabular impingement and hip arthritis. His surgical practice encompasses a comprehensive approach to hip preservation and hip replacement procedures. After earning both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency and research fellowship at Saint Louis University, followed by fellowship training in adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Internationally recognized for his contributions to hip preservation and hip reconstruction, Dr. Clohisy has led pioneering clinical research that has advanced the care of adolescent and young adult patients with hip disorders while maintaining one of the world's largest comprehensive hip surgery practices.
