Mia Hagen, MD

Dr. Mia S. Hagen is a Seattle-based board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at the University of Washington. She is a team physician for University of Washington Husky Athletics. Dr. Hagen specializes in sports medicine with expertise in hip arthroscopy, complex knee ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, meniscal surgery, and osteotomy. She earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University and her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, where she also completed her orthopedic surgery residency, followed by a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. An active clinician, educator, and researcher, Dr. Hagen's work focuses on improving outcomes in hip preservation, knee injuries, and surgeon education through innovative clinical research while helping athletes of all ages safely return to sport. She was a traveling fellow for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine-European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (AOSSM-ESSKA), and was the 2023 William Harris Foundation Career Development Award winner for the Academic Network of Conservational Hip Outcomes Research (ANCHOR).
